Teniola points out that a lot of women transition directly from their family homes to marriage without experiencing life independently.
As a result, many do not know what they like, what they can tolerate, or the qualities they desire in a partner.
This lack of self-awareness can lead to disappointment when women settle into marriage and encounter habits and behaviours they were unprepared for. Teniola emphasises that living alone allows women to discover themselves, establish their boundaries, and understand what they will or will not accept.
This self-knowledge can help prevent the common feeling of “this is not what I signed up for” that many face after marriage.
