London Court jails rapist Ahmed 15 years

The Snaresbrook Crown Court in London has jailed a rapist, Tanbir Ahmed 15 years for raping a woman.
The raped woman had reported the matter to the Met Police who swung into action to ensure that Ahmed was arrrsted.
The police said detectives began an investigation into Ahmed after the woman contacted them in November 2021 to report the attacks.
Ahmed was arrested and detectives built a case, carefully compiling evidence while ensuring the woman was supported throughout, which led to his conviction.
Detective Constable Jennifer Newman from the North East Sapphire Team led the investigation and said Ahmed is an abusive man who used threats and violence in an attempt to control the woman, saying the victim had shown immense strength and courage to stand up to him and report him to police.
Newman said as soon as she did, the police could provide support to her and investigate thoroughly the allegations she made.
“It is down to her resilience that Ahmed is now spending a significant time in prison. I hope this conviction and sentencing demonstrates that the Met is committed to tackling violence against women and girls, and gives others who have been subjected to violence the confidence to report it to police.
“We know trust in the police has been eroded, particularly with women, and we are working tirelessly as an organisation to rebuild this,” she said.
The woman contacted police in November 2021 to report that she had been raped on two occasions by Ahmed, who was known to her.
She also reported a catalogue of controlling and coercive behaviour, which included Ahmed threatening to share explicit images of her to family and friends.
The police said the convict was arrested and charged with various offences, including rape, on 16 October 2021 and that due to delays in the court process, a trial commenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court in January 2024.
The police added that on 26 January, Ahmed of Lodge Avenue, Dagenham was found guilty of two counts of rape; one count of controlling and coercive behaviour and one count of criminal damage.
He was remanded in custody and sentenced on Wednesday, 24 April to 15 years in prison with a further four years on licence.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Falk said: “Your charm was a front to your deeply concerning violent and coercive behaviour. You are a coward and a completely selfish, jealous and manipulative individual.”
