Lover flees as woman dies in Lagos hotel

The Police Command in Lagos State has confirmed the death of a young woman, whose identity is unknown, in a hotel at the Dopemu area of the State.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to journalists on Sunday in Lagos. He said that the incident happened about 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

Hundeyin said that the manager of the hotel reported the case to the Dopemu Police Division.

“The manager of the hotel reported that a man walked into the hotel with a lady to have a short rest. The identities of the man and the lady were,  however, not taken by the hotel.

“He stated further that after an hour, the lady rushed out claiming she was feeling hot. The manager said that he gave her cold water to drink but the lady was still not feeling well.

“The lady was later rushed to a hospital on Dopemu Road where she gave up the ghost while the man that brought her to the hotel absconded, ” Hundeyin said.

The spokesperson said that the manager of the hotel was in police custody to faciltate investigation. He said that the corpse of the lady had been deposited at the Lagos Mainland General Hospital mortuary.

According to him, investigation is on to unravel the cause of the death and trace the identity of the deceased as well apprehend the fleeing lover.

Meanwhile, the police in Lagos has detained the hotel manager in Dopemu area over the death of the woman who allegedly came to their facility with an unknown man.

SP Hundeyin, who confirmed the detention of the hotel manager on Sunday, had disclosed that the Dopemu Police Division received report from the hotel manager on Friday at about 10.10 p.m. on the incident.

He said the manager reported that at about 9.30 p.m. on same day, a man walked into the hotel with a lady to have a short rest. The image maker said that the identity of the man and the lady was, however, not taken by the hotel manager.

“He stated further that after an hour, the lady rushed out claiming she is feeling hot, the manager said he gave her cold water to drink. The manager said the lady was still not feeling better and was later taken to a hospital at Dopemu Road, where she later gave up the ghost, while the man that brought her to the hotel absconded.

“Meanwhile, the manager of the hotel is detained to help in investigation. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary Yaba for autopsy, ” he said.

Hundeyin said that investigation was ongoing to unravel the cause of death and trace the identity of the deceased, and also arrest the man that brought her to the hotel.
