The 45-cap Super Eagles star is expected to play a big role for his club this season, but he has suffered a drawback
Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will be out for at least four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Genclerbirligi’s 2-1 loss to Samsunspor last Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Etebo captained Genclerbirligi to Super Lig promotion last season after finishing second in the Turkish Lig. 1.
So, coming into this season, the Super Eagles star was expected to plan an important role for the club.
Unfortunately for Etebo, he lasted just 42 minutes, as he had to be taken off after overstretching his legs while trying to win the ball from a Samsunspor player.
The injury looked very serious, and Genclerbirligi have now revealed the extent of the problem via their social media page. The club stated that Etebo has a “partial tear and bleeding in the intramuscular tendon of the right hamstring muscle.”

According to Transfer Merkezi, the 29-year-old midfielder is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.
Etebo has had his fair share of injuries in his career. But hamstrings or muscle injuries in particular have been constant.
In fact, according to Transfermarkt, this is the seventh muscle injury the former Stoke City man will be suffering in eight years.

Nonetheless, he will hope to bounce back stronger from this setback and help his team win games.
Etebo will miss Genclerbirligi’s next games against Antalyaspor, Gaziantep, Fenerbahce, Rizespor, and Eyupspor.
