Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the payment of the 13th-month salary bonus to state workers for the year 2025, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.
Makinde made the announcement on Monday during the inauguration of the Governing Board of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital, held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Confirming the development via his 𝕏 handle, the governor stated that the 13th-month salary has remained a consistent practice since the beginning of his administration in 2019.
Makinde wrote, “At the inauguration of the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Governing Council this morning, I confirmed that the arrears on minimum wage which I promised at the end of September this year will be paid with the December salary.
“I also stated that we will pay a 13th-month salary to workers in Oyo State as we have done since 2019.”
Governor Makinde also assured stakeholders that issues surrounding the ongoing strike by medical lecturers at the teaching hospital would be addressed soon.
He charged the newly inaugurated board to revitalise the Oyo annexe of the hospital within the next 12 months, pledging government support to make the facility fully operational.
The newly constituted governing board is chaired by Prof. Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, with Mr. Aderemi Adediji as Secretary.
Other members include Mr. Gabriel Oyelade, Dr. Adebayo Taiwo, Mrs. Agnes Isola, Dr. Kehinde Ayinde, Prof. Adebayo Olakulehin, Prof. Adenike Olugbenga-Bello, and Dr. Oluwajoba Olayinka.
Speaking on behalf of the board, Oyelaran-Oyeyinka expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve and assured of the board’s commitment to transforming the teaching hospital into a world-class medical institution.
