Makinde Sacks Oyo SSG, Appoints Replacement

Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has sacked the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo.

Naijaonpoint reports that this was made known in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media), Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

The governor appointed Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde as her replacement.

The governor also approved a minor cabinet reshuffle.

He moved Temilolu Seun Ashamu from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to head the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

In addition, Ademola Aderinto, who served as Makinde’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Works, has been named commissioner-designate and will face screening at the Oyo State Assembly.

Other appointments include Abiodun Adedoja as Special Adviser on Energy Security and Kolawole Elijah Akanmu as Senior Special Assistant on Budget and Economic Planning.

In other news, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Anabraba, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naijaonpoint reports that Anabraba’s decision was contained in a letter dated January 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman, Ward 1, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.

In the letter, the SSG described his decision to quit the main opposition party as “personal.”

He expressed gratitude to the party for the benefits he derived during his time as a member.
