A tragedy has struck Akyempim in Ghana’s Central Region, where a man allegedly set his house on fire, killing his wife and six children in what authorities believe was a deliberate act.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service, the victims included the woman, five of her children aged between one and fifteen, and the family’s eldest daughter. Investigators suspect that the man locked the room from the outside before igniting the fire while the family was asleep.
In the video, residents can be seen carrying out what remains of the victims from the burnt house, their bodies charred beyond recognition. The scene has drawn tears and disbelief from onlookers, as emergency responders and locals work together to retrieve the remains.
The suspect was later found dead in a nearby bush, reportedly having taken his own life. His body was discovered hanging from a tree, confirming suspicions of suicide.
The devastating incident has left the Akyempim community in deep grief and shock, as the motive behind the act remains unknown.
