Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Josiah Omeruo, has named Nigeria and Rangers striker, Cyriel Kolawole Dessers, as the 2025 Unity Cup Player of the Tournament, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 31-year-old last played for the Nigerian National Team during the AFCON 2023 tournament in Ivory Coast, but has been in touch with the Super Eagles from time to time.
Dessers was included in Eric Chelle’s squad for the Unity Cup after missing out on the World Cup Qualifiers back in March.

The Belgium-born Nigerian started against Ghana and Jamaica and had a goal contribution in both games, scoring the opener against the Black Stars and setting up the same against the Reggae Boyz.
Dessers played 165 minutes across two games and impressed many after coming off the back of a stellar season with his club side, Rangers.
The 30-year-old’s performance drew praise from Super Eagles legend, Kenneth Omeruo, who took to his X page to laud the former Feyenoord man.

Omeruo’s praise comes after another AFCON 2013 winner, Brown Ideye, also admitted that Dessers is very underrated and should play more games for the Super Eagles.
Amongst all Nigerian footballers, only Victor Osimhen has scored more goals than Cyriel Dessers in the last two seasons.
