WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Fenerbahce president Ali Koç is reportedly plotting an audacious move for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, with hopes of softening fan disappointment should the club fail to win the Turkish Super Lig title this season, Soccernet.ng understands. According to Turkish journalist Yakup Çınar, Koç sees signing the Galatasaray star as a way to win back supporters if the campaign ends without silverware. Fenerbahce were knocked out of the Turkish Cup in the quarterfinals by bitter rivals Galatasaray, with Osimhen finding the net in the encounter. Reigning champions Galatasaray are also on course to retain the league title as the Lions boast a three-point advantage at the top of the Super Lig table. Speaking on the Yeni Açık YouTube channel via Habersarikirmizi, Çınar revealed: “Fenerbahçe is trying to get involved in the Osimhen transfer. Ali Koç is of the opinion that ‘If we cannot become champions, let’s at least bring Osimhen and win the fans’ hearts that way.’” Koç, alongside Fenerbahce board member Acun Ilıcalı and head coach José Mourinho, is said to be feeling the pressure to deliver success before their time at the club potentially comes to an end. Çınar added: “Ali Koç, Acun Ilıcalı and Mourinho are aware that if they cannot become champions, this will be their last year at Fenerbahçe. “Therefore, they have plans for Osimhen. However, Osimhen does not even remotely put Fenerbahçe on his agenda.” READ MORE Osimhen, who is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has enjoyed a stunning season, scoring 29 goals and registering six assists in 32 appearances. The former Lille star’s performances have sparked serious interest across Europe, with Premier League sides Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal among those monitoring his situation. Napoli have reportedly set a €75m price tag for the forward, and despite Osimhen’s happiness at Galatasaray, several top clubs have made approaches through his representatives. Manchester United, in particular, are pushing hard. The Red Devils were linked with the Nigeria international in January but failed to secure a deal. With manager Ruben Amorim still in need of quality additions, United are expected to return with a stronger bid this summer. United legend Rio Ferdinand has also recently endorsed a move for Osimhen, saying: “We (Man United) need a player who scores goals like Osimhen. We need a goal scorer.” Osimhen has never hidden his desire to play in the Premier League but with Barcelona and Real Madrid also among interested suitors, he could also be on the way to Spain in the summer. What was said of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen?
