A man who went viral after publicly berating former NBA star Iman Shumpert earlier this week has issued a public apology.

The incident occurred in Indianapolis.

In the clip, he is seen following Shumpert with a camera, aggressively requesting an interview. When Shumpert rejected his request, he then launched into an expletive-laden rant.

“F–k Iman Shumpert. You’re gonna get robbed! Get the f–k out of the city,” he can be heard saying.

Following the public backlash, he took to social media to explain his side of things.

“I asked Iman for an interview because that’s part of the content I create,” he wrote. “He yelled at me like I was lame and said, ‘F–k Indiana and F–k Naptown.’ That hurt.”

He admits that he was disrespectful.

“I was ready to fight an NBA champion in the middle of the street over my respect. Looking back, I can admit I should’ve just walked away and enjoyed the rest of my night instead of reacting the way I did,’ he went on.

“I just want people who aren’t from here to know some of us really grew up in Indianapolis. NBA champion or not, you’ve got to show love to the people who show love to you, especially when you’re a visitor,” he continued. “So if this reaches you, Iman — I apologize, sir. I hope you can understand where I was coming from.”
