Marlon Wayans revealed in a recent interview that he once attempted to stop his son from transitioning by hypnotizing him.
Wayans, who is supportive of his son Kai now, said that when he first learned Kai wanted to transition, his first instinct was to take drastic action.
“I tried to hypnotize that bih. I was like, ‘No, wait, hold on, wait—’ And I protested against it,” he confessed to Neal Brennan.
“I don’t say that with pride.” He continued, “I look back on those actions, and I’m ashamed. I was embarrassed the moment I was forced to look in the mirror, and it only took me a week. I will say that I got to a beautiful place of acceptance, and I pray for a lot of parents, family members, and people in general. It’s not on us to judge anybody. Like, hey man, live yo life.”
Marlon Wayans is the dad to sons Kai, 24, and Shawn, 22, with ex-Angela Zackery, and daughter Axl, 18 months, with ex-Brittany Moreland.
