A disturbing new weapon just supplanted the Infinity Gauntlet as the most powerful artifact in Marvel lore: “CEREBOMB,” “a psionic weapon” made from the disembodied brain of Charles Xavier. The “untested” weapon is set to have devastating consequences for Marvel’s Ultimate Universe when it is deployed in the latest issue of Ultimate Wolverine.
ComicWatch.com shared an exclusive preview of Ultimate Wolverine #11, written by Chris Condon, with art by Alessandro Cappuccio. Wolverine’s Mutant Opposition endures “the Eurasian Republic’s counterattack,” as the enemy forces led by villainous versions of Colossus and Magik resort to desperate measures to maintain their power.
That means the “Cerebomb,” which could dramatically change the playing field for the endgame battle.

A previous issue of Ultimate Wolverine revealed the grisly fate of this universe’s Charles Xavier. The legendary telepath’s brain was extracted and preserved, allowing Colossus and Magik’s subordinates, led by the sinister scientist Dr. Prostovich, to use Professor X’s psychic abilities as a twisted reinterpretation of Cerebro. Now, they’ve taken that to the next level with the “Cerebomb.”
“It’s a one of a kind,” Prostovich explains in Ultimate Wolverine #11, “capable of getting by any defense a mutant may generate.” The scientist also adds “we do not know the strength of the blast,” as a warning to the pilot who is being sent to drop the “Cerebomb” on the Mutant Opposition. This suggests they’re not prepared for its true capabilities.
It remains TBD what it will actually look like when the “Cerebomb” detonates. The actual magnitude and scope of the blast are for the full issue to reveal. Yet the implications of the “Cerebomb” extend far beyond Ultimate Wolverine #11. It is immediately one of the greatest weapons in Marvel lore, far more dangerous than the Infinity Gauntlet or Thor’s hammer.
Charles Xavier’s Ultimate Nightmare-Fuel Fate Just Got So Much Worse
The preview for Ultimate Wolverine #11 ends just as the bomber takes off on its mission. Readers should prepare themselves for the issue to actually go there, and kill off the Mutant Opposition in one shocking strike. However, the question is how much more destructive the “Cerebomb” might be than even its creators anticipate.
It might do damage far beyond the annihilation of the Opposition. For all Dr. Prostovich and her superiors know it could tear a hole in the fabric of the Ultimate Universe itself, or cause widescale psychic trauma for more than just its mutant targets. Only once Ultimate Wolverine #11 releases will Marvel fans know the full extent of the “Cerebomb’s” potential.
