Mary J. Blige has disclosed her intention to retire from the music industry in “five or six years.”

The renowned R&B artist has unveiled her plans to step away from music after a career that has spanned over three decades.

“Right now, I’m definitely gonna do some more acting and I’m definitely gonna retire in, like, five or six years,” Mary, 53, told Extra in a new interview. “Right now, I’m still doing what I’m doing but not as often as I was doing it because I don’t have to now.”

She further expressed that her recent music focuses on themes such as life, love, stability, and the realization that one can attain love and lead a fulfilling life.

“Mostly the love I have for myself,” she continued, “… My real love is me and I found it.”

In addition, during the interview, the hitmaker of “Family Affair” shared her excitement about being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in October, joining other music icons like Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Kool & the Gang, and Dave Matthews.

Mary J.Blige conveyed her astonishment at the news, mentioning that the recognition is unparalleled and holds significant value in her eyes.

Moreover, she is set to perform at the prestigious ceremony scheduled for 19 October in Cleveland, Ohio.

Currently, Mary J.Blige is gearing up for the annual Strength of a Woman Festival and Summit, a three-day music event happening from 10 to 12 May in her hometown of New York City.
