A rare new Pokémon Trading Card Game card from the MEGA Dream ex set has been revealed, and it may already consolidate itself as a powerhouse in competitive play. MEGA Dream ex is a new Japan-exclusive expansion set to be released later in November, and later adapted for Western markets. One of its highlights is its rare new Mega Gengar ex card for Pokémon TCG, which will certainly become a chase card.
Now, a series of new cards that will be part of the MEGA Dream ex set has been revealed, as reported by PokéBeach. In total, 10 new cards were officially revealed, one of which is an Illustration Rare version of another. One of the most popular highlights from the bunch is N’s Zekrom, which features the popular character alongside one of his signature Legendaries – with immense gameplay potential when paired with N’s Zoroark.
New Mega Froslass ex Card From Pokémon TCG: MEGA Dream ex Has Been Revealed
The New Legends: Z-A Mega Evolution Makes Its Debut In The TCG
In addition to the previously leaked N’s Zekrom card in Pokémon TCG, the new cards contain Mega Froslass ex. This is the first time this new Mega Evolution appears in the Trading Card Game. The standard version of the Mega Froslass ex card shows the creature surrounded by the signature color splashes of Mega cards, as well as snowflakes that are part of the Pokémon’s Ice-type identity.
According to Pokébeach, Mega Froslass ex has 310 HP and two moves. The first move is called Rebellion, and it costs 1 Water Energy. The second move is called Absolute Snow, and it costs 1 Water Energy and 2 Colorless Energy. The debut of the best Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A in Pokémon TCG: MEGA Dream ex has Weakness to Steel-type Pokémon, no Resistances, and its retreat cost is 1 Colorless Energy.
Mega Froslass ex Card Could Change Competitive Play In Pokémon TCG
The New Card Could One-HIT K.O. An Opponent’s Active Pokémon
What stands out in the new Mega Froslass ex card is its first move, Rebellion. For a measly 1 Water Energy, the attack deals 50 damage times the number of cards in your opponent’s hand. This opens up an opportunity for a devastating attack that can, potentially, wipe out a full HP ex card from their active spot, depending on how many cards they have in their hand.
What makes this even better is that Mega Froslass ex is a relatively easy card to set up. It’s a Stage 1 Evolution card, meaning it evolves directly from Snorunt. As such, you can place Snorunt on the bench or active spot, and on your next turn, evolve it, and with 1 Water Energy, possibly claim one Prize Card or more. Compared to other Pokémon ex cards, Mega Froslass ex is a bit more frail, which makes it a glass cannon.
It can also be predictable, since seeing a Snorunt on the board could alert the opponent and have them use or discard their cards as much as they can to prevent the incoming damage, or target Snorunt for an easy elimination. Even so, there’s a lot of offensive potential with this rare new Pokémon TCG card.
I’m hoping that Mega Froslass ex has a Special Illustration Rare version, too, which wouldn’t necessarily affect its gameplay value, but would give a cool new artistic treatment to one of Legends: Z-A’s coolest looking Mega Evolutions. MEGA Dream ex is a promising new Pokémon TCG set, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store.
