While having retired from acting, Meghan Markle is set to appear in a new film for the first time since leaving Suits. After portraying Rachel Zane in the popular USA Network legal drama, it appeared that the world had maybe seen the last of Meghan Markle in movies and TV shows as an actress after her engagement to Prince Harry.
People reports that the Duchess of Sussex has started shooting the upcoming comedy movie, Close Personal Friends, after being spotted in Pasadena, California, on November 5. The Amazon MGM project is also starring Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, Henry Golding, and Lily Collins.
Close Personal Friends is directed by Jason Orley, based on a script that was written by Isaac Aptaker, with the director also having worked on the story with him. Sources close to People stated that Markle “seemed very relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.”
Per People’s report, Markle is set to play herself in Close Personal Friends, with the appearance being described as “a small part.” At the time of this story’s publication, her representatives have not commented on her new acting gig.
When the film was first revealed in August, details about who the actors were playing were kept under wraps, as well as the overall storyline. People state that the story centers on a couple “who befriend a famous pair during a trip to Santa Barbara.”
Deadline revealed on October 1 that Natasia Demetriou, Anna Konkle, Melissa Villaseñor, Patti Harrison, Jack Shalloo, and Dustin Demri-Burns had also boarded Close Personal Friends‘ cast. Similar to Larson, Golding, Quaid, and Collins, it’s unclear who the six recently added cast members are playing in the film.
Amazon MGM has yet to set a release date for Close Personal Friends, as they have also not commented on Markle’s appearance in the movie.
