Meizu 21 Note is here with generative AI & 144Hz display

It was said, earlier this year, that Meizu will be exiting the smartphone market in order to focus on AI. Well, it seems like that won’t exactly be the case, as a new Meizu phone just launched. The device in question is the Meizu 21 Note.

The Meizu 21 Note has been announced with generative AI capabilities

Granted, this smartphone packs in generative AI, so perhaps Meizu’s statement was a bit off mark. Either way, this phone has flat sides, and that goes for both its frame and the front and back sides of the phone.

There is a display camera hole included here, and it’s centered. There are three separate circles on the back, all of which are located in the top-left corner, and vertically aligned. Two out of these are reserved for the camera, while the bottom one is there for an LED flash and an additional sensor, it seems.

The Meizu 21 Note features a 6.78-inch fullHD+ 8T LTPO OLED panel. That display has an adaptive refresh rate which can jump from 1 to 144Hz. The maximum brightness of this display is 5,000 nits.

The phone has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and two rear cameras

The phone does include an in-display fingerprint scanner, an ultrasonic one. A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.7 aperture, OIS, 1/1.56-inch sensor) is included, along with a 13-megapixel ultrawide unit. A 16-megapixel selfie camera is also a part of the package.

You’ll also find a 5,500mAh battery inside of this phone, while the device supports 65W wired charging. Wireless charging is not supported here. The phone is IP65 certified for water and dust resistance.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC fuels this phone, so it’s not as powerful as the Meizu 21 Pro. Two variants were announced, both of which have 16GB of RAM. One comes with 256GB of storage, while the other packs in 512GB of storage.

Flyme AIOS comes pre-installed, and delivers generative AI

The Meizu 21 Note comes with Flyme AIOS pre-installed, and it’s packed with generative AI capabilities. It also brings call screening, real-time translation, and appointment bookings. Circle to search is also a part of Meizu’s AI, as are document summaries, amongst other features.

Do note that these are all Meizu’s features, as this phone was announced in China, and doesn’t come with Google services. It’s also worth noting that the phone supports Flyme Link, which enables pairing with Geely’s cars.

The model with 256GB of storage is priced at CNY2,599 ($360), while the 512GB storage option costs CNY2,799 ($388). Needless to say, these are great price tags. The Meizu 21 Note comes in black and white colors.
