Paris Jackson Opens Up About Health Struggles Caused by Past Drug Use — “It Ruined My Life”

Paris Jackson, the 27-year-old daughter of the late pop legend Michael Jackson, is getting candid about how her past struggles with substance use have left a lasting mark on her body.

In a new video that’s gone viral across social media, Paris revealed that she has what’s known as a perforated septum— a small hole in the cartilage separating her nostrils — and that it was caused by her earlier drug use.

“I Have a Really Loud Whistle”

In the clip, which was reshared on a popular TikTok fan page over the weekend, Paris began by addressing something her fans have occasionally noticed: the faint whistling sound in her voice when she breathes.

“I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable,” she explained. “I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose, and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”

To demonstrate, Paris held a light to her nostril, showing the small hollow area inside.

She clarified that a perforated septum is “slightly different” from a deviated one — and that in her case, it was directly tied to her past drug use. “It’s exactly where you think it’s from,” she said matter-of-factly, before warning her followers:

“Don’t do drugs, kids. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”

What It Means

According to medical experts at the Cleveland Clinic, a perforated septum occurs when there’s a hole in the tissue or bone between the nostrils. The condition can lead to nasal whistling, bleeding, congestion, or even visible changes to the nose’s shape over time.

Common causes include injury, long-term exposure to chemicals, autoimmune conditions, or drug misuse — something Paris bravely admitted to having experienced firsthand.

She said she’s lived with the condition since she was “about 20 years old” and that it’s sometimes challenging, especially when she’s recording in the studio.

Paris even added, half-jokingly, “I can stick a spaghetti noodle through my nose and have it make an arch shape out the other.”

Staying Sober and Strong

Paris, who recently celebrated nearly six years of sobriety, said she has no plans to undergo plastic surgery to correct the issue.

“You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly,” she explained, “and I don’t want to mess with that.”

Instead, she’s focused on continuing her recovery journey — emphasizing that her sobriety and peace of mind come before appearances.
