Microsoft begins free 50-day AI skills training

Microsoft has announced the launch of a global 50-day AI Skills Challenge, offering free training opportunities to help individuals and organisations strengthen their knowledge and application of artificial intelligence.

According to details shared on its official website, the programme kicks off on April 8, 2025, and runs through May 28.

It features a wide range of activities, including live virtual and in-person events, self-paced tutorials, hackathons, and Microsoft Learn challenges.

The initiative is designed for a diverse audience—tech professionals, business leaders, students, and newcomers to AI—providing curated content tailored to each group.

Microsoft said the goal is to help participants build practical skills in AI tools and services, such as GitHub Copilot, Azure AI, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

One of the major highlights is an attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for the most users to take an online, multi-level AI lesson in 24 hours. This milestone event will take place on April 8, with learning activities beginning on April 7.

“Let’s make history together,” Microsoft stated, encouraging global participation while offering badges to commemorate the record attempt.

Beyond the record-setting goal, the company said the AI Skills Challenge represents a broader commitment to preparing individuals for the evolving demands of the AI-driven workplace.

Participants can explore the session catalogue and register for events via the Microsoft AI Skills Fest platform.
