The Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu, has expressed gratitude to the Minister of Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, for facilitating his reappointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In an official letter dated Monday, June 16, 2025, Aremu thanked the Minister for her support, attributing his reappointment to the achievements recorded during his first four-year tenure.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the federal government’s labour policies, including the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), which aims to create 2.5 million jobs.
Aremu described President Tinubu’s administration as “deliberate, patriotic, audacious, and visionary,” pledging to strengthen MINILS’ role in promoting industrial harmony, decent job creation, and labour education.
The institute, which was established in 1983, serves as a tripartite training and research hub for workers, employers, and government officials. Under Aremu’s leadership, it has also been designated by the International Labour Organization (ILO) as the centre for labour education in West Africa.
The Director-General called for increased funding and staff motivation to enhance service delivery and discipline through the Performance Management System (PMS).
He assured the Minister of his loyalty and dedication to upholding the institute’s mandate while supporting progressive labour reforms.
