‘Mohbad’s Spirit, God Changed My Fortunes’ – Late Singer’s Father

Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has disclosed that his life took a positive turn after his son’s tragic demise.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Akin Abolade, also known as Mrlilgaga, on Wednesday, Aloba attributed the sudden change in his fortunes to divine intervention and the spirit of his late son.

“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me,” he shared.

Aloba revealed that he received gifts, including a car and other essentials, from compassionate individuals.

“Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now.

“Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them,” he added.

The grieving father also shed light on the controversies surrounding his son’s wife, Wunmi, and her family, accusing them of controlling Mohbad’s properties.

He claimed they held onto his son’s assets, including a piece of land Mohbad had purchased for him to build a church.

“They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mold the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him.

“Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and told me he was going to buy it after the completion of his tour, for which I know he had completely paid,” Aloba recounted.

During the interview, Aloba gave a tour of his newly acquired block industry and showcased gifts from well-wishers, including a Toyota Highlander and a truck.

He also revealed that he has released nine songs since his son’s passing.

Mohbad, aged 26, tragically passed away on September 11, 2023, in Lagos. His death sparked widespread mourning and investigations, including the arrest of a nurse who administered a tetanus injection to him.

The nurse was later discovered to be unlicensed, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
