WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Dame Dash is still fighting to hold onto his assets after author and entrepreneur Edwyna Brooks demanded the seizure of his assets after landing a $78,289 judgment against him. Brooks sued Dash back in 2019 for copyright infringement after proving in court that the former Roc-A-Fella cofounder marketed and sold a film based on one of her characters, “Mafietta,” a female crime boss. Brooks claimed she sowed all the rights to the character and books and was awarded $300,000 by a judge. In November, she filed another motion against him, claiming he was hiding his money. She alleged that Dash and his longtime girlfriend, Rachel Horn, “[comingled] and [used] their companies as one entity and attempt to use the entities in an elaborate liability shifting scheme to avoid judgment debtors on behalf of themselves and their entities.” “This process has been quite the learning experience. I have learned to never begin any project based on someone’s word. I don’t care if it’s writing on a project or filming one,” she told TSR back in 2022. “Nothing matters if it isn’t on paper. Feelings change and so do motives as you can see in my case and having Damon read my contract and agree to sign it was not enough. I should not have spent one dime until he actually signed it.” Brooks is asking that Dash be forced to auction his stakes in Poppington LLC, The Dash Group LLC, and DGCO LLC, as well as his intellectual property, including film rights to Honor Up, Too Honorable, and We Went to China.
