THE Flamingos were eliminated from the Morocco 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup tonight after a 4-0 defeat to Italy in Rabat.
Italy’s perfect tournament continued in full force as they dismissed the Flamingos, who had squeezed through to the round of 16
There were chances a plenty for both sides in the first half, but it was Italy’s Anna Copelli finding the net first, as her left-footed shot slipped under the diving arms of Flamingos goalkeeper Sylvia Echefu.
The Flamingos thought they had drawn level 10 minutes into the second half when Nguemo Terlumun poked into the net, but the VAR ruled that Queen Joseph kicked the ball from the goalkeeper’s hands.
Italy then gave themselves a two-goal cushion on a ball flighted in by Caterina Venturelli that ended up sailing over the head of Echefu and into net.
Soon enough it was 3-0, with Giulia Robino firing home a right-footed free-kick.
Rachele Giudici rounded out the prolific night for the Italians with a late fourth goal.
In a humiliating night for African teams, as hosts Morocco were thrashed 6-1 by defending champions North Korea.
