According to sources, the incident occurred when Chisom, who hails from Amufie in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, visited Ogbonna at his residence on New Anglican Road in Nsukka in the country. During the visit, a heated argument reportedly broke out after she told him about her planned marriage to another man. Eyewitnesses say Chisom was later found unconscious and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Ogbonna, a native of Igogoro community in the same local government area, was immediately taken into police custody for questioning.
