Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau on Wednesday inspected the ongoing remodeling of the Plateau and Hill station hotels.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two facilities are located in Jos, the capital of Plateau and owned by the state government.
Speaking during the exercise, Mutfwang said that the decision to revive the hitherto moribund hotels, aimed at revitalising the tourism sector.
He described the two facilities as “iconic”, saying that the move was part of ongoing efforts to reposition the state as a premier destination for leisure and investment.
“The history of Plateau is tied to assets like these. This is why our administration is pursuing strategic partnerships with private investors to reduce dependence on public funds while ensuring long-term sustainability.
“God helping us, a significant portion of the Plateau hotel project is expected to be completed and ready for use by Dec. 1,” he said.
The governor, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of work so far done, however, tasked the team handling the projects on professionalism.
He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to restoring the state’s image as the home of peace and tourism by reviving the hospitality and tourism sector.
Mr Kudla Satumari of the Aviare Global Concept Ltd, the firm handling the Plateau hotel project, promised to deliver the project withing specification.
On his part, Mr Okechukwu Izeogu, Project Manager of Hillside Hospitality Ltd, the firm handling the hill station hotel project, said that the project was already 45 per cent completed.(NAN)
