My Defection To APC Not About Ambition – Fubara

Siminalayi Fubara Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday dismissed rumours suggesting a strained relationship between his administration and lawmakers at both the federal and state levels.

The governor spoke at the commissioning of the extended and dualised 28.4-kilometre Ahoada-Omoku Road, where he insisted that narratives alleging tension were unfounded.

According to him, contrary to claims that he had been avoiding the lawmakers, arrangements had already been concluded for a meeting with them.

Fubara explained that his predecessor and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, alongside elder statesman Ferdinand Alabraba and other leaders, were expected to facilitate the meeting.

He maintained that any suggestion that he refused to meet with the lawmakers or turned down proposals concerning them “is not telling the truth.”

Defection To APC

Speaking a day after announcing his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Fubara urged Rivers people to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu.

He told his supporters that his move to the APC was not driven by personal ambition but by his desire to restore peace and ensure steady progress in the state.

He urged them to shun divisive politics and remain steadfast in backing both the President and the state government.

The governor reiterated his commitment to fulfilling his developmental promises despite the challenges confronting his administration.

He recalled making a pledge to complete the Ahoada-Omoku Road during his campaign with Wike, adding that he assured residents the project would be delivered if he and President Tinubu emerged victorious.

Fubara noted that the road would ease transportation, boost commerce, and improve the socio-economic well-being of the communities along the corridor.

The Rivers State Governor also assured that more developmental projects were in the pipeline.
