Nigerian singer Euphemia Ekumah, popularly known as GoodGirl LA, has shared details about her difficult relationship with her father.
Naijaonpoint reports that she said she decided to follow her passion for music instead of continuing her education.
During an interview with Hip TV, the “Bless Me” singer revealed that her biggest regret in life was spending time in school instead of starting her music career earlier.
She said she wished she had never written JAMB or allowed her father to push her into schooling when her interest was in music.
GoodGirl LA explained that her father’s reaction was harsh when she refused to continue her studies.
He sent her out of the house and even disowned her for disobeying him.
The singer said she was only 16 at the time, confused about what to do next, but by the age of 17 or 18, she became determined to pursue music full-time.
She eventually found her path in the entertainment industry, releasing songs that gained public attention.
Over time, her family accepted her decision and reconciled with her after seeing her progress and recognition as one of Nigeria’s rising music talents.
She said: “I have never regretted not completing school. I wish I never went to school. I wish I left home earlier. That’s my only regret. I wish I never wrote JAMB. I wish I ran away when my dad was forcing me to write JAMB.
“When I told my parents that I wasn’t interested in going to school anymore, my dad asked me to leave his house. It was crazy. At one point, my dad even disowned me. Then, I left home.”
