“My loyalty is unwavering, it belongs first to Kano state and its people. Kano first, Kano first, Kano first before any other loyalty,” he said.

The Governor also announced the establishment of a Kano State Elders Council to serve as a non-partisan advisory body to the government.

In the spirit of stability, inclusion and long-term thinking, I wish to announce another important step that we are taking today. I am approving the establishment of the Kano elders council. Kano Elders Council is going to be a non-partisan advisory body of respected statesmen,” Abba added.

As earlier reported by Naijaonpoint, the Governor’s defection was formalised on Monday at the Coronation Hall, Kano Government House, where Yusuf was received by top APC leaders, including former governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata.

Also in attendance were senior APC officials, federal lawmakers, and political stakeholders from across the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Yusuf said his return to the ruling party was driven by a desire to work more closely with the Federal Government and align Kano’s development priorities with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
