Nigerian celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest is celebrating his former boss, Obi Cubana, on his chieftaincy title.
Kemi Filani reported on Friday that the billionaire businessman had received another traditional honour in Anambra State. He was conferred with the chieftaincy title Okpataozueora I of Oba by the Igwe of Oba, His Royal Majesty, Engr. Sir Augustine Chinedu Emelobe, GON (Eze Okpoko II of Oba).
Speaking at the ceremony, the monarch described Iyiegbu as an illustrious son of Oba whose achievements have brought honour to the community. The monarch explained that the title Okpataozueora was conferred in recognition of Iyiegbu’s contributions to human capital development, community empowerment and the promotion of Igbo cultural heritage.
Taking to his Instagram page, Chief Priest congratulated him on his double Chieftaincy title, as he called Obi his Oga.
“My Oga @obi_cubana Double Chief Okpataozuora 1 Na Oba. Congratulations, Sir, Chief Na Water”.
This is yet another chieftaincy title that comes on the heels of a recently conferred chieftaincy, the Ife Igbo-Ji-Ka, by the Igwe and traditional council of Enugwu–Ukwu na Umunri, led by Igwe Ralph Obumnemeh Ekpeh.
To celebrate Obi Cubana’s 50th birthday, last year, Chief Priest shared photos of them over the years. He described Obi as the guy who discovered him and believed in him first. He prayed for God’s blessings, good health, and more money.
Not done, CP declared that in his next life, he wants to still learn from Obi Cubana. He noted that his composure, style, coordination, package, doings, levels, page, class, and standard are top-notch.
Like many celebrity friendships, Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest have had their own share of public fallout. The two had a rocky relationship for years and finally settled their beef in 2021. However, after Cubana attended Obi Cubana’s mother’s funeral, much wasn’t heard of the two.
In 2022, Chief Priest dispelled rumours of a beef between them after he failed to promote Cubana’s Odogwu Bitters. Proving haters wrong, Chief Priest shared a video of them together as they partied at a club, describing Obi as his overall boss.
When Chief Priest had recounted his ordeal with EFCC, Obi, who had a similar fate, noted how one would be taken from Vaniti to court. He concurred in his dialect that the stress was plenty.
When Obi was also arrested in 2021 for money laundering, Chief Priest showed love and support for him as he stated that what does not kill them makes them stronger. He added that the Igbos were used to being victimised by the government.
In other news, Obi sang the praises of Chief Priest after he gifted his childhood friend 47 cows for his mother’s burial. Obi hailed him as he noted how he always sets records and breaks them.
