‘My Silence Should Not Be Mistaken For Cowardice’ – Peggy Ovire Fires Back At Taiye Arimoro Over ₦100 Million Legal Suit

Peggy Ovire fires back at Taiye Arimoro

Nollywood actress, Peggy Ovire, dismissed the ₦100 million legal suit filed by her colleague, actor Taiye Arimoro, describing his claims as misleading, selective, and materially false.

Naijaonpoint reports that Arimoro had accused Peggy of physically assaulting him on November 11, 2025, when his contract ended at 11:59 PM, but he was blocked from leaving the set.

Arimoro said the production manager first stopped his vehicle, and another car later blocked the exit.

Feeling unsafe, he began an Instagram Live to document what was happening.

The dispute escalated at the estate gate, where Ovire and her team allegedly confronted him.

He said his tyres were deflated, several people surrounded him, and he suffered injuries, including a fractured jaw, bite marks, and bruises.

However, Peggy, in a letter through his lawyers, insisted that Arimoro is twisting the entire incident, stating that the movie star tried to flee immediately after the incident, and any attempt to stop him was to prevent him from escaping before police arrived.

They maintained that Peggy never assaulted him, explaining that the only physical contact was when she “pushed him lightly” after he allegedly attempted to deflate her tyres.

The legal team maintained that Arimoro’s Instagram live was a deliberate attempt to manipulate public perception and that the CCTV clips he shared were selectively edited to favour his own narrative.

The letter also dismissed talk of mob action, a broken jaw, harassment, or any form of violence against him as completely fabricated, adding that the matter is already under investigation by both the police and the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Captioning the Instagram post, Peggy said her silence should not be taken as a sign of weakness, reminding everyone that the investigation is ongoing and that the truth will unfold.

She wrote, “Untill the police investigation is Concluded, let it be clear that my Silence Should not be mistaken for Cowardice.”
