Nollywood actor and Politician Kenneth Okonkwo has called for a probe into the immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok Ekwe Ibas.

Okonkwo made the call on Monday while appearing in an interview.

He argued that the officials who oversaw Rivers State during the state of emergency were largely outsiders.

“Rivers people, and indeed citizens of every state in Nigeria, should learn from this,” he said.

“When a state is disunited, strangers are brought in to manage and siphon resources.

“This state of emergency in Rivers was unnecessary. All the key figures were from the same political family, whether Wike or Fubara, so it should not have happened. Every state should take note.

“Have you noticed that the people who decided the destiny of Rivers during this period were all outsiders? For example, President Bola Tinubu from Lagos, Senate President Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom, House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen from Kaduna, the Chief Justice of Nigeria from Lagos, and Sole Administrator Ibas from Cross River.

“They are all strangers to Rivers State and have come to control its resources.

“N22 billion was budgeted to install CCTV in the State House, Ibas should be thoroughly investigated,” Okonkwo said.
