The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for facilitating the establishment of the ‘Window on America’ ICT initiative.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for facilitating the establishment of the ‘Window on America’ ICT initiative.
The project, set up by the American Consulate, is located at the Ogun Tech Hub in Abeokuta and is aimed at promoting digital literacy and youth empowerment in the state.
This contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by NANS National Vice President for Inter-Campus and Gender Affairs, Felicia Akinbodunse.
She described the project as a strategic boost to tech education and youth empowerment in the state.
Akinbodunse noted that the initiative, located at the Ogun Tech Hub on Kobape Road, would serve as a valuable platform for tech start-ups, especially students and young innovators.
According to her, it will enhance students’ digital skills and connect them with global opportunities in the ICT space.
“The Ogun Tech Hub, built during the first term of Gov. Abiodun’s administration, has become a magnet for ICT investments and development projects.
“The latest collaboration with the American Consulate and GFA Technologies through the ‘Window on America’ project is a testament to the governor’s far-reaching vision for digital transformation,” she said.
She also highlighted the recent commissioning of a Digital Innovation Park by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), located near the Tech Hub, as further proof of Ogun’s growing reputation as a leading ICT and innovation centre.
Akinbodunse said Abiodun’s administration had laid a strong foundation for digital education through initiatives such as fibre optic connectivity, digital literacy campaigns, and the creation of innovation clusters.
“These efforts are now yielding dividends in the form of new projects, job creation, digital skills development, and an improved quality of life for the people of Ogun,” she added.
The NANS Vice President urged the state government to extend digital infrastructure to all tertiary institutions in Ogun State to ensure students benefit fully from tech-enabled learning, e-research, and innovation.
“With continued support and expansion of this digital ecosystem into campuses, Ogun will remain a pacesetter in ICT education and youth development,” she stated.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
