Nasarawa Senator Dumps PDP

Senator Representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District Ogoshi Onawo

The senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Ogoshi Onawo, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP has been in crisis over its leadership and has seen its membership reduced even as more top leaders continue to defect to other parties.

Onawo joined over a dozen senators who have dumped the party with just over one year to the general election, announcing his decision in a resignation letter dated January 10, addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The senator did not disclose his next political destination but has been sighted at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he attended the party’s meeting in July 2025.

He, however, said in the letter, “I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Galadimawa Ward, Doma Local Government Area, with effect from today, 10th January, 2026.”

The senator explained that, “This decision has been taken after careful consideration and is purely for personal reasons. “

Expressing appreciation, he wrote, “I wish to sincerely thank the party leadership, members, and supporters for the opportunity and platform afforded me over the years to serve my people in various capacities. “

He added, “I remain deeply grateful for the trust, cooperation, and support I received throughout my time in the party.

“Please accept my appreciation and best wishes for the continued progress and success of the party,” he added.
