Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins is eager to secure a regular position in the Super Eagles of Nigeria starting lineup.

Victor Collins has been called up to represent Nigeria in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Note that Collins is the only home-based player selected by caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen.

After participating in the evening training session in Abidjan on Tuesday, Collins expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the national team.

“It’s truly a privilege to be here,” he shared with Brila FM. “Just think about it: I used to watch players like Osimhen and Iwobi on TV, competing in the Premier League or Turkish League. Now, I’m here in camp, training alongside them as teammates.”

Collins recognizes this as a significant moment in his career and is committed to maximizing his learning from these experienced players. He said, “I need to step up my game; if I was giving 110% before, now I aim to give 150%. My mindset is always centred around winning, and I believe with dedication, I can make a lasting impact here.”

Meanwhile, England-born defender Gabriel Osho has stated that both of his parents were born in Lagos, Nigeria.

Osho has chosen to dedicate his international football career to Nigeria, turning down the chance to represent England, the country of his birth. Having arrived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Monday, he is poised for a potential cap-tying opportunity with the Super Eagles.

Born and raised in Reading, England, Osho’s eligibility to play for Nigeria is rooted in his Nigerian heritage, with both parents being natives of Lagos.

“My name is Gabriel Osho, defender for Auxerre and the Super Eagles,” he told the Super Eagles media team ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifier against the Benin Republic on Thursday. “Both my parents were born in Lagos, I am happy to be here.”
