The recent positive run at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange came to a halt on Wednesday, October 22, with a 1.40 per cent loss.

During the session, the market capitalisation of the alternative stock exchange lost N30.91 billion to close at N2.169 trillion compared with the previous session’s N2.2 trillion and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went down by 51.67 points to 3,626.55 points from the previously quoted 3,678.22 points.

The loss was influenced by the duo of FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc and the Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc.

FrieslandCampina declined by N6.95 to end at N62.55 per share versus N69.50 per share and CSCS Plc slid by N3.96  to close at N41.04 per unit, in contrast to the previous day’s N44.95 per unit.

On the flip side, NASD Plc rose by N3.19 to N35.09 per share from N31.90 per share and UBN Property Plc appreciated by 16 Kobo to N2.15 per unit from N1.99 per unit.

The volume of securities traded at the session jumped by 458.7 per cent to 7.2 million units from the previous 1.3 million units, and the value of securities increased by 351.8 per cent to N965.0 million from N213.6 million, while the number of deals depreciated by 37.9 per cent to 18 deals from 29 deals.

When the market closed for the day, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.2 billion units worth N419.2 million, trailed by Impresit Bakolori Plc with the sale of 536.9 million units for N524.8 million, and Air Liquide Plc with 507.3 million units valued at N4.2 billion.

Okitipupa Plc ended the session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 170.2 million units valued at N7.9 billion, followed by Air Liquide Plc with 507.3 million units traded for N4.2 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 45.8 million units transacted for N2.0 billion.
