The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange contracted by 0.65 per cent on Tuesday, June 24, amid high trading activity by investors.
Data revealed that there was a 12,404.6 rise in the volume of securities transacted by the market participants yesterday to 58.9 million units from the 471,471 units traded in the previous trading day, as the value of transactions significantly climbed by 5,593.4 per cent to N641.9 million from the N10.6 million achieved a day earlier.
However, the number of deals completed by investors during the trading session went down by 40.5 per cent to 25 deals from the 42 deals executed in the previous trading day.
When the market closed for the session, Impresit Bakolori Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 536.9 million units worth N524.8 million, followed by Air Liquide Plc with the sale of 507.2 million units valued at N4.2 billion, and Geo-Fluids Plc with 268.5 million units sold for N475.8 million.
In the same vein, Okitipupa Plc was the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 153.8 million units sold for N4.9 billion, trailed by Air Liquide Plc with a turnover of 507.2 million units worth N4.2 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 40.7 million units traded for N1.7 billion.
A look at the general outcome of the alternative bourse showed that the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went down by 21.57 points to settle at 3,320.63 points, in contrast to the previous session’s 3,342.19 points.
Also, the market capitalisation, which captures the total value of securities on the trading platform, shrank by N12.62 billion to close at N1.944 trillion, in contrast to the N1.957 trillion it ended on Monday.
Yesterday, the market finished with one price gainer and a price loser led by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which declined by N6.47 to quote at N61.53 per share compared with the previous price of N68.00 per share, while Paintcom Investment Plc expanded its share price by 1 Kobo to N10.75 per unit from N10.74 per unit.
