The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded its best daily performance on Wednesday, July 23, after it closed higher by 2.11 per cent, influenced by five bellwether stocks led by Okitipupa Plc, which added N14.50 to its share price to end at N234.50 per unit compared with the previous day’s N220.00 per unit.
Further, FrieslandCampina Plc appreciated by N5.80 to sell at N71.30 per share compared with the preceding session’s N65.50 per share, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc grew by N4.27 to N47.03 per unit from N42.76 per unit, NASD Plc rose by N2.75 to N30.25 per share from Tuesday’s N27.50 per share, and Afriland Properties Plc increased by N1.74 to close at N19.25 per unit, in contrast to the N17.51 per unit it ended a day earlier.
Consequently, the market capitalisation of the bourse went up by N43.62 billion to N2.111 trillion from N2.067 trillion and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 74.50 points to 3,606.09 points from 3,531.59 points.
During the midweek session, the volume of trades shrank by 99.9 per cent to 776,428 units from 1.00 billion units, the value of transactions declined by 91.9 per cent to N27.1 million from N334.4 million, while the number of deals went up by 155 per cent to 51 deals from 20 deals.
When the market ended for the session, Okitipupa Plc was still the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 154.0 million units transacted for N4.9 billion, followed by Air Liquide Plc with 507.2 million units worth N4.2 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 42.3 million units valued at N1.8 billion.
Also, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) maintained its position as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.1 billion units worth N354.4 million, trailed by Impresit Bakolori Plc with the sale of 536.9 million units for N524.8 million, and Air Liquide Plc with 507.2 million units valued at N4.2 billion.
