NASD OTC Bourse Falls for Third Straight Session

For the third straight session, the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed in the negative territory, shedding 0.07 per cent on Wednesday due to a fall in the prices of four stocks on the platform.

Yesterday, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) closed lower by 2.48 points to finish at 3,581.40 points compared with the previous day’s 3,583.88 points and the market capitalisation fell by N1.49 billion to close at N2.142 trillion compared with the preceding day’s N2.144 trillion.

During the trading day, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc gave up 25 Kobo to trade at N61.75 per unit versus Tuesday’s price of N62.00 per unit, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc went down by 5 Kobo to 68 Kobo per share from 73 Kobo per share, Geo-Fluids Plc dipped by 4 Kobo to close at N4.90 per unit versus N4.94 per unit, and UBN Property Plc shrank by 2 Kobo to end at N2.01 per share, in contrast to the previous day’s N2.03 per share.

The volume of securities traded at the session by investors was down by 48.4 per cent to 1.5 million units from the previous day’s 2.8 million units, as the value of securities decreased by 66.9 per cent to N4.3 million from the N13.1 million recorded a day earlier, and the number of deals depleted by 34.5 per cent to 19 deals from 29 deals.

At the close of business, Okitipupa Plc was the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 158.7 million units worth N5.9 billion, trailed by Air Liquide Plc with 507.3 million units valued at N4.2 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 44.6 million units transacted for N1.9 billion.

IGI Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.2 billion units sold for N416.0 million, followed by Impresit Bakolori Plc with 536.9 million units transacted for N524.8 million, and Air Liquide Plc with 507.3 million units worth N4.2 billion.
