WATCH THE VIDEO HERE THE National Assembly has extended the implementation period of the 2024 Budget by six months, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced during the presentation. “We shall continue on the path of nationalism and service to our country,” Akpabio stated at a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. Akpabio noted that the 2024 Budget achieved a 50% performance rate in capital expenditure and 48% in recurrent expenditure. “Your Excellency, we acknowledge the performance of the 2024 Budget. “In light of this achievement, we have decided to extend its lifespan to June 30, 2025. The enabling legislation for this extension will soon be submitted for your assent as a demonstration of our appreciation for the budget’s success and our commitment to sustaining this progress,” Akpabio explained. President Tinubu’s 2025 budget proposal, totaling ₦47.9 trillion, is approximately ₦20 trillion higher than the 2024 budget. In December 2023, Tinubu presented his first budget proposal of ₦27.5 trillion, which was later increased by ₦1.2 trillion to ₦28.7 trillion by the Senate.
