Natasha denies apologizing to Senate, vows not to be intimidated

Akpoti-Uduaghan in a statement today dismissed the reports as false, asserting that she remains committed to standing by the truth and advocating for justice despite political pressure.

“I, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stand firm in my resolve never to apologize for speaking my truth. The desperation to silence me is evident, but I will not be intimidated,” she declared.

She further stated that the political maneuvering against her would be exposed and those responsible for undermining Nigeria’s institutions would be held accountable.

“As a senator, I am duty-bound to represent my constituents and uphold justice and transparency.

My allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio were made with conviction, and I will continue to demand accountability, regardless of the consequences,” she affirmed.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reiterated that her suspension was politicaluly motivated but emphasized that she would not be discouraged.

“I will keep fighting for Nigerian women’s rights and ensuring our voices are heard. The public should disregard the false reports suggesting I apologized to the Senate. I remain steadfast in my commitment to truth and justice,” she added.

Meanwhile, some constituents from Kogi Central submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) today, seeking her recall.

The petition, signed by Charity Ijese on behalf of the constituents, was received by INEC Secretary Rose Anthony at the commission’s headquarters.

Titled “Constituents’ Petition for the Recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on Grounds of Loss of Confidence,” the document cited a lack of confidence in her representation.

The senator secured her seat following an Appeal Court ruling in October 2023.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was suspended for six months for allegedly violating Senate rules, has taken the matter to the United Nations Inter-Parliamentary Conference in New York.

She accused Senate President Akpabio of political victimization, sexual harassment, and abuse of office.
