Natasha’s homecoming: Kogi LG chairman imposes curfew in Okehi

Following the scheduled homecoming and Sallah rally planned by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the chairman of Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Amoka Monday has imposed a curfew across the council.

The LG chairman said the curfew is in line with the proclamation of a ban on all political rallies and unregulated gatherings announced by the state government under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the LG chairman said the curfew is aimed at sustaining the peace currently witnessed in the state and the area council.

He noted that anyone found wanting or flouting the curfew imposed in the area would be made to face sanctions.

Monday said, “The curfew, which takes immediate effect, restricts movement and gatherings in designated areas.

“Anyone found loitering or assembling in restricted zones without clearance from the relevant authorities will be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.

He also said that his administration is focused is committed to prioritising the safety and stability of the Okehi LGA and would not tolerate any activity capable of disturbing the public peace across the area council.

Monday while urging with residents in the area to comply with the directive and cooperate with security personnel deployed in the area, he said the government ban on political rallies and curfew will maintain peace and curb misinformation in the area and Kogi State at large.
