Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is preparing to return to the National Assembly after serving out her suspension, her lawyer has confirmed.

Her counsel, Victor Giwa, told journalists in Abuja that the Kogi Central senator is currently in London but will resume when plenary reconvenes on September 23.

“Actually, she’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London. Everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption,” Giwa said, adding that Senate leadership was also “ready to welcome her back.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 for alleged insubordination after she rejected a change of her seat during plenary. The sanction stripped her of aides, salaries, and office privileges.

She has since insisted her ordeal was tied to a petition she filed accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, a claim dismissed by the Senate.

Her attempt to re-enter the chamber in July ended in a standoff, as security operatives blocked her path despite a rally of supporters outside.

With the suspension now expired, her lawyer says all legal battles tied to the case will “fade away.”
