The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rivers State Chapter, is compelled to issue a strong and unequivocal disassociation from the reckless and misguided statement made by our Chairperson, Mrs. Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, against the State Commissioner for Information and the State Governor, Sim Fubara.

Let it be known to the public that Mrs. Serekara-Nwikhana was acting purely in her personal capacity, and her views do NOT represent the collective stance, principles, or position of NAWOJ Rivers State Chapter. We categorically reject her statements, which are a violation of the professional standards, ethics, and core values of our association.

We also wish to make it clear that such actions will not be tolerated. NAWOJ Rivers State Chapter invoke the provisions of our constitution and take necessary disciplinary measures to address this breach of conduct. This is not just a matter of personal disagreement—it is an issue that strikes at the very heart of our commitment to integrity and professionalism in journalism.

We urge all to disregard her misguided comments, as they are solely hers and in no way reflect the voice of NAWOJ Rivers State Chapter.

Signed,
Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie
Secretary,
