The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dutse branch, has demanded urgent justice in the case of a Department of State Services (DSS) officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, who is accused of abducting, raping and forcing a 16-year-old girl, Miss Walida Abdullahi, to convert to Christianity and marry him.
The association said the allegations against the DSS officer represented a grave abuse of office and a disturbing violation of the rights of a minor.
Naijaonpoint understands that the alleged abduction and abuse of Miss Abdullahi had been ongoing for over two years, with her family declaring her missing since she was 16 years old and embarking on fruitless searches for her whereabouts.
The recent discovery of her location and the alleged circumstances surrounding her disappearance have sparked widespread outrage across the country, prompting renewed calls for accountability and justice.
The case took a significant turn on January 7, 2026, when a court issued an order directing security authorities to arrest and investigate Onyewuenyi.
Reacting in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, A.B. Umar, on Saturday, the NBA Dutse branch said it was closely monitoring compliance with the court order.
“The court has given its order, and we expect full compliance,” Umar stated.
‘Appalling Barbarism’ – NBA
Expressing shock at the allegations, the NBA described the actions attributed to the DSS officer as “an appalling level of barbarism and a crass display of impunity.”
According to the statement, Miss Abdullahi went missing at the age of 16, and despite sustained efforts by her parents to locate her, her whereabouts remained unknown for more than two years.
The NBA added that the prolonged trauma allegedly contributed to the death of the victim’s mother.
Father Directed to Abuja for Marriage
The association disclosed that Onyewuenyi reportedly contacted the victim’s father, Abdulhadi Ibrahim, in January 2026, admitting that Miss Abdullahi had been in his custody for over two years.
He allegedly directed the father to come to Abuja for their marriage.
Umar said the alleged offences include abduction, unlawful detention, rape of a minor, abuse of office, and forced conversion and marriage.
“The victim was reportedly held against her will for over two years and gave birth to a child as a result of the alleged rape,” he said.
He described the suspect’s alleged actions as “a gross abuse of his position as a DSS officer” and stressed that accountability must follow.
The NBA demanded “a swift, transparent, thorough and impartial investigation” to determine the culpability of Onyewuenyi and any other persons who may have been involved.
“We shall ensure that justice is not only done but is seen to be done for Miss Walida Abdullahi and her family,” Umar said.
The association also urged members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding while the investigation and judicial processes take their course.
Meanwhile, Onyewuenyi had been arrested by the DSS over the alleged abduction, defilement and forced conversion of the teenager.
The arrest followed a petition dated January 4, 2026, written by an Abuja-based law firm, Gamji Lawchain, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent via 𝕏 (formerly Twitter).
The NBA Dutse branch commended the efforts of the authorities so far and urged them to sustain momentum to ensure justice is delivered.
