NBRP Convention 2025… Driving the cause of reading promotion across the nation

Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, was adopted as the Nigerian National Book City for 2026. Previous book cities have been Uyo, Lagos, Yenagoa. Abuja is the incumbent book City.

  1. The 5th National Conference on Reading and AGM of the Network of Book C lubs and Reading Culture Promoters in Nigeria was successfully held at the TETFUND Auditorium, Abuja on September 25, 2025, under the distinguished chairmanship of the scholar and bibliophile, Prof. Udenta Udenta.
  2. Among others, the session witnessed the participation of the National Librarian and CEO, National Library of Nigeria, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi; the immediate past President of the Nigerian Library Association, Dr Dominic Omokaro; Hajiya Hauwa Aliyu of Adams Pages Bookshop, Madam Comfort Chenge of Fortham Publishers; Mr Dotun Eyinade of Roving Heights Bookstores; and members of NBRP drawn from across the country.

  5. The session commended the founding Executive of NBRP for a job well done and in line with the dictates if the NBRP Constitution, bringing their tenure to a close at the AGM.
  6. The AGM ratified two members of the 2025/2027 NBRP Executive. They are Madam Mojisola Okeya, National Legal Compliance Officer and Richard Mammah, ex-Officio member. Dr Kabura Zakama would oversee activities of the organisation for the next two weeks as Interim Chair/Returning Officer with a principal mandate to conclude the process of filling all additional positions in the Executive Council.
  7. National Librarian, Professor Chinwe Veronica Anunobi and Mrs Awele Ilusanmi, Founder, Literary Authors Multipurpose Cooperative Society, bagged the 2025 Champions of Reading Awards at the session.
  8. The 6th NBRP AGM and National Conference on Reading will be held in Ibadan, Oyo State in September 2026.
