The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has extended the travel ban on Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, indefinitely.

Naijaonpoint reports that in a statement, NCAA said the ban will remain until investigations into the airport incident are fully completed.

The ban was initially set for six months following a directive by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, but now has no fixed end date.

The incident involved the musician carrying a bottle of water through airport security and into the VIP lounge.

Although he passed the initial screening, the liquid was discovered during a second security check before boarding.

Kwam 1 was asked not to bring the bottle onto the plane but reportedly ignored the instruction and moved toward the aircraft.

Security officers accompanied him to the plane, where the pilot was called to assess the situation.

During the exchange, the liquid splashed onto the pilot, who then became upset, entered the aircraft, and closed the door.

“While that was going on, in trying to prove that what he was carrying was harmless, he splashed water. Somehow, some of it splashed on the pilot, who got angry, got back into the aircraft, and shut the door of the plane,” the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, Mike Achimugu, stated.

Achimugu said the details are based on early findings and that no final judgment will be made until the investigation is complete.

The case has been referred to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police for further review.

The NCAA promised to share the full outcome once the probe concludes.
