NCAT appoints Adamu as new rector

The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology has appointed Ismaila Adamu as its new rector and chief executive.

In a statement signed by Director of Information for NCAT, Jude Amadi, “The Ag Rector, Mr. Joseph Imalighwe, and the entire staff of NCAT receive with gratitude Mr. President’s appointment of Dr. Ismaila Danjuma Adamu, PhD, as the substantive Rector/Chief Executive of NCAT.”

The statement emphasised that Dr. Adamu’s impressive credentials align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of appointing qualified professionals to key positions.

“The very rich profile and pedigree of the new Rector/CE lend eloquent credence to Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inclination to having square pegs in square holes,” the statement read.

Imalighwe described Adamu as a distinguished academician and administrator with extensive experience in aviation management. He holds a B.Sc. and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University and earned a PhD from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom, with a thesis titled ‘The Impact of International Air Transport Liberalisation: The Case for Nigeria.’

His expertise is further strengthened by his participation in various aviation conferences, seminars, and specialised courses, including Air Transport Marketing in Westminster, ICAO Trainair Plus Competency Course in Kenya, and ICAO Basic AVSEC Course in Bahrain.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Adamu served as an Aviation Management Resource Person at NCAT, dedicating significant time and resources to preparing for this leadership role.

Amadi highlighted Adamu’s dual expertise in both air and land transport sectors, describing him as “a happy family man and son of the soil” who is warmly welcomed back to NCA.
