The lawmaker representing Borno South in the National Assembly, Senator Ali Ndume, has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately sack those responsible for the controversial June 12 honours list, saying the gaffe is a significant embarrassment to the presidency.

Ndume, speaking on Arise Television Tuesday night, described the error in which living persons were honoured posthumously as a reflection of “stupidity and incompetence” at the highest level of government administration.

The senator did not mince words as he condemned the mistake that saw two individuals who are still alive mistakenly honoured as if they were dead during the Democracy Day celebrations.

Ndume said, “Look at what they did now. Embarrassing Mr. President when he honoured some people. They honoured a living man posthumously. Two people.

“When I said there are cockroaches there, they would insult me. But what is this? Error of omission, commission and stupidity.”

He insisted that had he been in Tinubu’s position, those responsible would have been dismissed without hesitation.

“It was embarrassing on Mr. President. If I was the president, whoever is responsible for that, I will fire him and get somebody that knows the job,” he said.
