NEC Meeting: ‘We Can Not Say What The Outcome Will Be’ – Gov Uzodinma Speaks After APC Governors Meeting With Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, held a closed-door meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the banner of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), on Wednesday evening, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting precedes Thursday’s highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) session of the ruling party, where top-level decisions on party leadership and structure are expected.

All 24 APC governors were in attendance, with the governors of Katsina and Akwa Ibom represented by their deputies.

Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, PGF Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, said the governors used the visit to formally condole with President Tinubu over the recent passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a significant moment of loss for the party and the nation.

He said, “We came as a group to formally condole the passing of the former President Muhammadu Buhari and also to discuss the upcoming National Executive Committee meeting of our party tomorrow.”

Governor Uzodinma further disclosed that the meeting provided an opportunity for the APC governors to hold a “convivial discussion” with the President on strategies to fortify the party’s presence across all tiers of government.

The Imo State Governor said, “We also shared some ideas with Mr. President on how best to strengthen our party at the grassroots, at the local government, at the state levels up to the national level.”

The discussions, he noted, revolved around how the APC could better serve Nigerians by being proactive in governance and united in leadership.

When asked if the NEC meeting scheduled for Thursday would produce a consensus on the appointment of a new national chairman of the APC, Uzodinma chose not to disclose any details.

“It is a National Executive Committee meeting; we cannot say what the outcome will be. When you come there tomorrow, you will see it,” he told journalists.

The party’s NEC is expected to deliberate on key structural matters, including the possible ratification of a substantive national chairman to replace Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned recently amid ongoing internal realignments within the party.
