Ned Nwoko, senator representing Delta north, has denied claims by Regina Daniels, his estranged wife, suggesting she has been barred from seeing their children.
The Delta politician said a court had already addressed the issue, directing Daniels to undergo rehabilitation and assessment by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access could be restored.
In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, Nwoko’s communications team described Daniels’ posts as “misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice.”
“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement read.
The statement added that any suggestion Daniels had been prevented from participating in her children’s lives is “equally misleading.”
Nwoko said the children have always been cared for in an environment prioritising routine, emotional balance, and stability.
“Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound, and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.
The development followed Daniels’ post on Monday, where she spoke about the pain of being separated from her children and affirmed her commitment to see them soon.
“I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon!” she wrote.
Nwoko highlighted the court’s ruling in his favour, emphasising that Daniels must undergo rehabilitation and be assessed before she can regain access to Munir, 5, and Khalifa, 3.
“The matter has been adjourned to 4 February 2026 for hearing of the substantive suit,” he added.
He urged Daniels to comply with court directives, warning that her online posts risk “using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues.”
Nwoko concluded, “The most responsible and meaningful step remains compliance with the court-directed rehabilitation process and a demonstrated commitment to sustained personal wellness. It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention.”
