THE Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr, has highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to revitalizing education in Nigeria through a student loan program aimed at reducing unproductivity and dissatisfaction among students.

During an engagement meeting in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, with students, educators, and government officials, Sawyerr outlined the loan’s application process, which requires students to create an online profile. He emphasized that the loan is interest-free and does not have a fixed repayment period, making it accessible and flexible for students.

The Borno State Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Lawan Wakilbe, reiterated the state government’s commitment to facilitating student access to the loan. He announced the appointment of a dedicated desk officer for NELFUND in the state to collaborate with the Special Adviser to Governor Zulum on Higher Education.

Wakilbe noted that this initiative will support students throughout the application process and help them understand the benefits of the loan, which he described as a low-risk grant available to all eligible students.

NELFUND, part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to provide all higher education students with access to financial resources, enabling them to pursue their educational goals and aspirations more easily.
